Medical Assistant Certification
Woodcreek Provider Services is proud to offer an exciting NEW apprenticeship program for individuals seeking Medical Assistant Certification and have a desire to provide outstanding quality care to members of their community! Woodcreek will be hiring into this program/role as full-time employees at an hourly pay. Our goal will be for these employees to complete the program with the confidence and training to be successfully supporting providers in the clinical setting as a Certified Medical Assistant in Washington State.
Program Overview
The Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program is a 12-month program that prepares students to take the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) test through the National Healthcare Association. It has been approved by the State of Washington as an equivalent to an MA-C program at a community or technical college.
The program:
- Is a registered apprenticeship program through the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries.
- Is governed by an Apprenticeship Committee of 50% employer and 50% MA representatives.
- Is administered through the Washington Association of Community & Migrant Health Centers.
- Trains students in the specific skills required to achieve the MA-C credential, as outlined in RCW 18.360 and WAC 246-827.
- Curriculum is approved by the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges.
Expectations
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Complete 2,000 hours of on-the-job training (paid) with the support and guidance of an experienced one-on-one MA coach.
- Complete 465 hours of supplemental coursework (unpaid). There are two online courses:
- Technical Skills for Medical Assistants
- Role of Medical Assistants in the Patient-Centered Medical Home model
- 24 hours of in-person lab training with expert instructors. Log and report on-the-job hours and skill practices as required.
The Medical Assistant demonstrates the Woodcreek core values of integrity, respect, commitment, trust, and self-sacrifice in his or her everyday duties as a member of the healthcare team. The Medical Assistant performs under the supervision of a licensed healthcare practitioner as identified in RCW 18.360.010 (physician, osteopathic physician, advanced registered nurse practitioner, physician assistant, and registered nurse) to assist with direct patient health care, including treatment, self-care instruction, patient education, and administration of medications following the protocols, policies, and procedures for Woodcreek Provider Services.

Hiring Range
Hiring external apprentice hourly rate is $18.64 (apprentice receives 85% of the journeyman (MA-C) wage to begin). After the apprentice completes 1000 hours of the program, then he or she is moved to 92% of the journeyman wage, which is $20.18. After completion of the program, an offer of employment may be made to the apprentice and will reflect the MA-C wage range and is eligible for the sign on bonus if one is offered for that position at that time.
